This is a 3.5-inch, 161g hand-cast brass pen stand made entirely by hand by our master tribal artisan in India, using a technique that is over 4,000 years old called Dhokra.

Dhokra is a lost-wax casting method. The form is built first in wax, wrapped in clay, fired, and filled with molten brass. The mould is broken to release the sculpture — meaning it can never be used again. Every piece is one of a kind.

Look closely at the body: open diamond lattice cutwork runs the full circumference, and at the centre, a Sun face looks outward — cast in relief, eyes open, radiating. At night, place a tealight inside and the lattice throws golden light patterns across every surface around it. In the morning, fill it with pencils. It works either way.
