Why Choose the Dhokra Dragonfly?
Perfect for 'insectophiles', and to add a touch of nature to your spaces, each piece has been meticulously created by hand using the traditional Dhokra metal-casting technique.
The Ancient Art of Dhokra
Dhokra is one of India’s oldest traditional metal-casting techniques, practiced for over 4,000 years. It traces its roots back to the Harappa and Mohenjodaro Civilizations, making it a living link to the world’s earliest cultures. This intricate craft uses the lost wax technique (cire perdue), passed down through generations of artisans across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Entirely handcrafted, Dhokra’s unique 13-stage process combines clay molds, beeswax, and molten metal to create intricate designs. The resulting alloy of brass, nickel, and zinc gives each piece its antique, timeless finish.
Sustainably Made, Naturally Rooted
Every element of this Dhokra piece is drawn from nature, from the clay of the fields to the wax from the forests. Unlike factory-made products, it carries with it the simplicity and integrity of materials that nurture the earth, ensuring a minimal ecological footprint.
Ethically Sourced, Artisan-Centric
We believe in empowering artisans and preserving their legacy. That’s why we work directly with artists, ensuring fair compensation and celebrating their craftsmanship. We never bargain with the hands that create magic.
