Hand-painted by our master artisan's family workshop — a craft house established in 1890 — the wide domed lid lifts cleanly, the dish holds a full block of butter, and the whole thing looks extraordinary doing it.

On warm cream-yellow: two plump folk-art birds face each other in deep navy blue, their bodies detailed with fine white hatch-lines, surrounded by branching stems and teardrop buds. Unmistakable. The most talked-about piece on any table it sits on.
